STYLE INSIDER – GRACE BELGRAVIA’S KATE PERCIVAL

Kate Percival, the driving force behind Grace Belgravia nestled in West Halkin Street SW1, has been steering this ship of wellness since its launch just shy of two years ago in November 2012. This 11,500 square feet sanctuary of health and well-being has recently given its Californian-inspired café a makeover, now dishing out delectably healthy fare for members to savor in-house or for non-members to grab on the go or through Grace’s convenient home and office delivery services. Adding to their repertoire, Grace has rolled out a line of cold-pressed juices, joining the ranks of their fresh juices and smoothies, as part of their soup and juice cleanse. We sat down with founder Kate Percival to uncover the genesis of this serene haven.

Kate Percival: My journey kicked off in the chairman’s office of Lloyd’s of London under the guidance of a formidable female boss, who instilled in me invaluable lessons about work ethic. Grace is the culmination of a 30-year career journey through marketing, branding, and service industries. As a working mother, I felt a deep calling to craft a space that nurtured and empowered women.

Kate Percival: In just 22 months, I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved. Grace has truly become a second home for countless remarkable women, a sanctuary where they can recharge, rejuvenate, and indulge in some much-needed “me” time. But it’s not just about serenity; it’s also about vibrant energy and health, with a myriad of exciting happenings and fascinating individuals.

DONNA IDA: Your café is getting a facelift. What can we anticipate from the new vibe?

Kate Percival: Picture this: a laid-back haven in the Upper Café—plush sofas, cozy armchairs, bathed in natural light—a perfect spot to rendezvous with friends, sip on a juice or coffee, catch up on work, and relish the healthiest, most scrumptious eats London has to offer!

Kate Percival: As for me, I thrive on staying active. Pilates sessions with Jason and the thrill of boxing keep me on my toes.

DONNA IDA: We’ve heard about your Cold Press Juices. What’s the story behind them, and do you have a favorite?

Kate Percival: Our juices and smoothies at Grace are simply divine, but transporting them alongside our home delivery programs posed a challenge. Introducing cold-pressed juices solves that, allowing our clients to relish our nutritious concoctions both at the Club and in the comfort of their homes, brimming with goodness and boasting a three-day shelf life. Personally, I’m hooked on the Alchalizer, though the Veggie Patch is giving it a run for its money!

Kate Percival: When it comes to dressing for the Club, I lean towards a more formal attire—it’s almost expected of me. Lots of dresses make my mornings a breeze, especially when they seamlessly transition from an 8 am breakfast meeting to lunch and an evening soirée.

DONNA IDA: Any style icons that inspire you?

Kate Percival: Chanel holds an eternal allure for me, and I can’t resist the sophistication of all things Armani. But when summer rolls around, I’m all about injecting some color into my wardrobe—a stark contrast to my winter palette of black.

DONNA IDA: How do you rock your jeans?

Kate Percival: Skinny jeans are my go-to, and thanks to Donna’s magical touch, I’m over the moon with my recent makeover. I’ll be sporting them tomorrow as I jet off to a wedding in Croatia—fingers crossed they’ll still fit come Monday!

DONNA IDA: What’s your golden nugget of industry wisdom?

Kate Percival: Always go that extra mile, trust your gut, and above all, let integrity guide your every move.

DONNA IDA: If you could whisper advice to a younger version of yourself, what would it be?

Kate Percival: Ease up on the work throttle! Recognize that family and friends are just as crucial as your career.

DONNA IDA: What’s on the horizon?

Kate Percival: Grace NYC, perhaps? Join us for our Grace Belgravia event on September 16, 2014, to find out.
